Cerium Oxide is a white to slightly off-white powder. It is a substance that when mixed with water is used to remove scratches or polish glass. With its help, you can easily remove scratches and other damage that appear on the glass surface. All you need is a little desire and just a few minutes to restore the perfect shine to the glass using a conventional drill, felt and cerium oxide.
To remove scratches on the glass surface, mix cerium oxide with water in a ratio of 1:1. Apply the resulting thick paste to the scratched surface and use a drill and a hard felt or flex felt pad to polish the damaged surface. It is important that the speed of the drill is not too high - preferably 500-600 revolutions per minute. At the same time we check that the mixture is not too dry. When polishing, we can use a water sprayer to wet the polished surface from time to time, and we also wet the felt wheel with water. You can also use professional mechanical polishers to polish. To get the best effect, polish the surfaces evenly and make small circles. In addition, it is recommended to also polish the area around the scratch. It is important not to stay in one place for too long during polishing as this can result in the formation of a cavity on the glass surface and in the case of automotive glass, lens flare.
The best effect is achieved when the scratch is not too deep and not noticeable under the fingernail. A pack with 100 g of cerium oxide is sufficient to polish approx. 6 car windows.
