INGREDIENTS
Genmaicha green tea 50%*, brown 50% * rice (* from certified organic farming)
DESCRIPTION
Genmaicha is a high-quality green Sencha tea combined with roasted grain rice ("Genmai"). The rice is specially soaked and pre-cooked before being dried and roasted. The combination of the infusion of Sencha leaves and rice gives Genmaichy its characteristic refreshing, slightly nutty taste, strong aroma and rust-green color. For centuries in Japan, genmaicha was considered a drink for the poorest who could not afford to drink sencha alone. The added rice increased the volume of the tea and gave it extra flavor. Over time, genmaicha became popular among all walks of life in Japan, and then around the world, where it earned the nickname “popcorn tea” (because roasted rice grains resembled popcorn from afar). In Japan, genmaicha is often drunk by monks during long periods of fasting. Due to the relatively low Sencha content (50%), it is a tea with a relatively low caffeine content. It is valued for its high mineral content (magnesium, calcium and potassium). Because of its digestive properties, it is traditionally served with meals.

okay okay
