The taste of this black leaf tea is refined, delicately floral with hints of honey and spices.
The word "kou-cha" means "carmine tea". This term for Wacoucha comes from soft Japanese water that has been colored a dark shade of red with a hint of blue. That's why it used to be called red tea. After brewing with water of medium hardness, more typical of European countries, the Wakoucha infusion acquires an intense dark amber color.
Moya Wakoucha hails from the Mie region of Honshu.
Black Wakoucha tea is a perfect accompaniment for dishes and desserts, the sweetness of which breaks with its taste.
Like any black tea, Wacoucha is dried after harvest and then undergoes a fermentation process that differentiates it from green tea. The result of this process is its dark colour, slightly earthy taste and lower caffeine content than, for example, green Sencha.
