DIY-Deodorant – wie man zu Hause ein natürliches Deodorant zubereitet

Everyone uses deodorants. We've been using them nonstop, every day, for years. We use both deodorants, which reduce sweating and minimize unpleasant odors, and antiperspirants, which completely block perspiration. We live in times where the natural process of sweating, which prevents the body from overheating and allows for the elimination of toxins, is socially unacceptable in certain situations. Yes, sweating at the gym is welcome, but not necessarily in everyday life at work or school.

Deodorants and antiperspirants are readily available. We can buy them at almost any store for a penny. However, these drugstore products often contain ingredients that can irritate the skin, especially if applied immediately after shaving, causing allergic reactions and itching and contributing to the development of various diseases. Antiperspirants most commonly contain substances such as parabens, phthalates, triclosan, aluminum, and aluminum salts. Furthermore, they are usually packaged in plastic, which contributes to environmental pollution. Despite being aware of this, many people still choose drugstore cosmetics because the sight of sweaty underarms and wet stains on their clothes scares them more than potential skin irritation. They see no other option than to buy an antiperspirant at the store, and as it turns out, an effective and natural deodorant can be easily made at home. How to do it?

Homemade deodorant recipe

To make homemade deodorant you will need:

  • unrefined coconut oil – about 2 large spoons,
  • Potato or cornstarch - 2 tablespoons,
  • Baking powder - 2 tablespoons,
  • Shea butter - 2 tablespoons,
  • Favorite essential oil , it can be lavender, rose, lemon, tea – a few drops.

All you have to do is place all the ingredients in a glass jar or metal container and mix thoroughly. To ensure the ingredients are well blended, we recommend placing the container or jar in a hot water bath and stirring again until the mixture is completely smooth and even. If the finished deodorant seems too thin, you can add a little more starch and mix everything again. Once cooled, the DIY deodorant is ready to use.

Homemade deodorants are natural cosmetic products that don't inhibit sweat secretion like commercial antiperspirants or blockers, but they effectively limit the growth of bacteria on the underarm skin and prevent unpleasant odors. Like any natural, preservative-free product, they expire relatively quickly. If you notice a change in their smell or consistency, it's time to make a new batch.

Making homemade deodorant from natural, readily available ingredients is very easy. And most importantly, it's a healthy way to reduce the effects of sweating without harming our health or the environment.
