Sind Hirseflocken genauso gesund wie Grütze – Eigenschaften und Anwendung

Millet is one of the healthiest and oldest groats. It's a source of valuable nutrients and is derived from millet seeds. Millet flakes are also made from millet – they undergo gentle processing, including steaming and grinding. They're a wholesome product and, like millet, contain many beneficial ingredients. They have a delicate flavor and are easily digestible, and are gluten-free. They can be eaten in many ways. Let's take a look at why they're worth incorporating into our diets on a permanent basis.

Millet flakes – properties

Both millet flakes and millet groats are made from millet. Both products are very healthy and easily digestible. You can use them interchangeably and prepare the same dishes. Millet flakes are easier to prepare and can be eaten straight from the can or added to yogurt without prior heat treatment. Millet flakes are a source of:

  • B vitamins (B3, B6, B9) – have a positive effect on the nervous and cardiovascular systems, support the regulation of cholesterol levels, increase the production of neurotransmitters responsible for appetite, sleep and well-being.
  • Vitamin E – is an antioxidant that, among other things, protects the body from cell damage caused by free radicals and also prevents blood clots,
  • Lecithin – supports the functioning of the nervous system, has a positive effect on memory and concentration, helps to accelerate the regeneration of the body after physical exertion,
  • Iron – is the main element of hemoglobin, helps in the efficient transport of oxygen, supports the functioning of the nervous system, influences the proper functioning of the immune system,
  • Magnesium – supports the proper functioning of the immune and nervous systems, as well as the immune system, has a positive effect on heart function, reduces the risk of ischemic disease, reduces the risk of insulin resistance and chronic diabetic complications,
  • Phosphorus – contributes to maintaining the correct acid-base balance in the body, participates in the mineralization of bones and teeth,
  • Potassium – supports the proper functioning of the nervous and muscular systems,

The use of millet plastics

Millet flakes are perfect for a nutrient-rich and easily digestible meal. You can combine them with milk or water to create a sweet or dry version. Made with apples, cinnamon, and a little sugar, they can be enjoyed as a dessert. They can be eaten raw as an addition to yogurt. You can also use them to make pancakes or shortbread cookies. Mixed and blended with nuts, dates, or other dried fruits, they taste great as very healthy energy balls. An interesting idea is to use millet flakes as a coating for vegan or traditional cutlets.

Millet flakes – for whom

Millet flakes are gluten-free and therefore safe for people with celiac disease. They are also easily digestible and filling, making them recommended for those with digestive problems or stomach upsets. They are also an excellent dish for people on a weight-loss diet. They can also be safely given to young children as they expand their diets. However, people with diabetes should be careful, as they have a high glycemic index after cooking.
