Spirulina is a microscopic algae that grows in lake waters in Africa, Central and South America. It contains up to 60% protein in its composition. It is a source of natural iodine, selenium, iron, valuable B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12) and unsaturated fatty acids, including gamma linolenic acid (GLA). The protein it contains consists of up to 18 amino acids, 8 of which are esogenic amino acids, i.e. those that are not produced by the body and must be supplied with food.
