DESCRIPTION
The fig is the fruit, more precisely the pericarp, of a plant known as the common fig tree, ordinary fig, Carian fig, fig tree. A similar type
of pericarp, known by the technical term syconium, is also found in other fig species.
Fig trees. It is a pear-shaped, leathery pouch with a very narrow
opening. Inside it is filled with numerous fruits or flower remnants.
The fruit bodies contain up to several hundred fruits in the form of small, seed-like
achenes, surrounded by an expanded fleshy vessel.

Preparation: for direct consumption or as a side dish.
