Chestnut flour is the flour made by grinding chestnuts. In terms of taste and nutritional value, it clearly surpasses conventional wheat flour. It is an excellent base for preparing both sweet and dry dishes. It has a nutty, slightly sweet taste and a delicate aroma. The dough made from chestnut flour is characterized by a high degree of plasticity. Its consistency is similar to that of well-known wheat flour.
Chestnut flour provides our body with many valuable vitamins (A, C, E, B vitamins) and minerals such as copper, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium. It is characterized by a significantly higher content of polyphenols than conventional grain flour, eg wheat. As a result, this product has a strong antioxidant effect. The protein content in chestnut flour is not very high (about 6%), but very valuable. Chestnut flour mainly provides us with carbohydrates.
Chestnuts are usually associated with a luxurious, roasted delicacy most commonly found roaming the streets of Paris in autumn. Its health-promoting properties and rich flavor have been prized around the world for centuries. St. Hildegard, who recommended the consumption of chestnut products, especially in the case of liver diseases. Chestnut flour is not yet widespread in our country, but it is increasingly present on Polish tables in various forms.

APPLICATION
Edible chestnut flour is an ideal substitute for wheat, almond and rice flour. It can be used alone or in combination with other types of flour. Bread baked with chestnut flour becomes fluffy and darker. This is typical for this type of flour. This product gives the dishes a unique taste. It can be used to make pasta, bread, dough, cookies, dumplings, pancakes, and to bind soups and sauces. You can also use it to make delicious waffles, omelettes and cakes. Chestnut flour can be dissolved in milk. After cooking such a mixture, polenta is obtained. The flour is also used for drinking. It is an ingredient in many cocktails. According to St. Hildegard, chestnut flour with honey is also a great way to support the liver's work. She recommended consuming a teaspoon of this mixture once a day.
