Onions (Allium cepa L.) are the common name of a plant in the Amaryllis family. The correct botanical name of this vegetable that brought tears to many people's eyes is garlic, onion, as it is a species belonging to the garlic genus. The onion was already known in ancient times, the oldest known records indicate that it could be used as early as 5,000. years B.C. Chr.
