Aleppo soap – history and properties
Contents:
Unobtrusive, without an aromatic, soapy smell, and somewhat bland in appearance. Aleppo soap , since we're talking about it, contains only four ingredients according to the original traditional recipe. These are primarily olive oil and bay leaf oil. This is enough for the soap to be valued worldwide for its properties and to enjoy increasing popularity. Let's see who it's best for and why.
History and production method of traditional Aleppo soap
Aleppo soap is also known by the following names: Alep soap, Savon d'Alep, laurel soap, Syrian soap, or Ghar. The history of its production dates back at least 2,000 years. It owes its name to the city of Aleppo in Syria, where it is produced using traditional methods according to a time-honored recipe passed down from generation to generation. For many centuries, it was known and used only by the Syrians. In Poland, Aleppo soap appeared relatively recently, but it has already enjoyed great popularity. The production process of this seemingly ordinary soap takes several months. They are made by hand using a method that has been known for centuries. The original Aleppo soap consists of only four simple ingredients:
- olive oil
- Bay oil ,
- Water,
- caustic soda
Soapmaking begins immediately after the first olive harvest. Oil mixed with caustic soda is boiled in huge cauldrons for several days, and finally, bay oil is added. The resulting substance is then rinsed with water until the lye has completely disappeared. The mixture is left to stand overnight to evaporate the water and cool. The soap is not yet ready. The mixture is spread out on sheets of paper, where it undergoes a hardening process. They are then cut into cubes and sealed with the original manufacturer's seal. The resulting soap bars are set aside to age. They mature for between six and twelve months. At this point, the soap becomes quite hard, taking on a beige-sandy color on the outside and remaining green on the inside.

Aleppo soap , traditionally produced in Syria for centuries, began to be produced outside of Aleppo due to the political situation in that country. However, it is still soap made according to original, ancient recipes and ancestral, time-honored methods. It is made entirely from natural ingredients and contains no harmful colors, flavors, or preservatives. It is safe for all skin types, both for children and adults. It is appreciated by all who value natural care and simplicity.
