The birch is a very distinctive tree with whitish bark and silvery leaves, typical of the Polish landscape. Birch trees secrete phytoncides, antibacterial substances that keep the area around them free of bacteria. Infusions, medicinal teas, and poultices are made from birch. Almost all parts of this beautiful tree are used, from the bark to the twigs and leaves, and even the most unusual gift: the sap.

Health-promoting properties of birch sap

Oskoła, i.e. natural birch sap, It is clear, bright, and slightly sweet in taste. It is collected in spring from two non-protected species of this tree (warty birch and downy birch) by drilling into the tree trunk and inserting a special filter. Oskoła is a highly valuable, mineral-rich sap that is said to have health-promoting properties. It is a valuable resource:

  • Vitamin C and B vitamins,
  • Glucose, fructose,
  • Peptides, amino acids,
  • organic acids – citric acid, malic acid and chlorogenic acid,
  • flavonoids,
  • tannins,
  • Betuline,
  • Methyl salicylate,
  • Minerals such as: potassium, copper, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium and iron.

Regularly drinking birch sap can have many positive effects on our bodies, fighting existing illnesses or preventing the development of new ones. Drinking birch sap is especially recommended during periods of increased cold and flu frequency. Birch sap also has a beneficial effect on our kidneys, has a diuretic and detoxifying effect, and is especially recommended for people struggling with illnesses such as:

  • kidney stones,
  • Gout,
  • Cardiovascular edema,
  • chronic diseases and inflammations of the urinary tract.

Birch sap, among others:

  • strengthens the body and the immune system,
  • protects against viruses and bacteria,
  • has analgesic, antipyretic and diaphoretic properties,
  • has a diuretic effect,
  • cleanses the body of toxins,
  • relieves rheumatic pain,
  • supports the fight against anemia,
  • supports the work of the liver,
  • has a positive effect on the skin condition,
  • strengthens the hair,
  • has a positive effect on the work of the heart and prevents diseases of this organ,
  • Relieves symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome and stomach ulcers.

How do you get the best results with birch sap?

Birch sap should be consumed for at least two to three weeks, no more than three times a day. It also combines well with other juices, such as raspberry juice, or natural honey. For best results, drinking birch sap should be part of a healthy, balanced, and varied diet that includes plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit and is free from stimulants such as alcohol, cigarettes, or excessive caffeine consumption.

Birch sap - contraindications for use

Birch sap is especially recommended for children and the elderly who are at risk of viral and bacterial infections. It is a relatively safe beverage that, when consumed in moderation, does not cause adverse side effects. However, birch pollen allergy sufferers, as well as those with insufficiency and diseases of the urinary tract and kidneys, should not consume birch sap. People with heart disease or chronic medication use should consult a physician before using birch sap.
