Was genau sind Meeresalgen? Welche Eigenschaften haben ungewöhnliche Algen?

The Western world has recently become fascinated by the properties of seaweed. In the Far East, seaweed has been used for centuries. Today, it is widely used in many areas of industry—cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals. Seaweed is among the simplest and oldest organisms on Earth. It is also valued for its minimal processing.

What properties do seaweed have ?

"Underwater thickets" collect all the minerals found in water. Most importantly, they are present in a form that is absorbable by humans. Seaweed is a rich source of elements:

  • fluorine
  • phosphorus
  • zinc
  • manganese
  • potassium
  • iron
  • calcium
  • magnesium
  • copper
Algae also contain a large amount of iodine. If we suffer from a deficiency, it's worth including algae in our daily diet. This will help us fill the deficiency. Seaweed also contains many vitamins—vitamins E, K, PP, C, A, and B. The nutritional properties of algae make it a great addition to a vegetarian diet. They contain a lot of protein, which is essential for the body's development.
Our bodies can't produce essential amino acids on their own. Algae are a great source of them. This is another reason to include them in our diet.

The use of seaweed in cosmetics

  • Seaweed has found exceptional application in cosmetics. Thanks to its nutritional and skin-care properties, it has a positive effect on:
  • Cellulite – Green and brown algae, added to slimming lotions and gels, stimulate blood flow in the capillaries thanks to their alginic acid content. This facilitates the elimination of toxins from the body. B vitamins, beta-carotene, iodine, and enzymes support the process. They are responsible for metabolism and smoothing the epidermis.
  • Acne and seborrhea - Carbohydrates and sulfur in seaweed have disinfectant properties. They also stabilize the skin's sebaceous glands and cleanse the skin of toxins by restoring its natural pH.
  • Capillaries - Spirulina with Ritin and Estin, substances that strengthen and seal the capillaries, improve blood circulation in the skin and reduce the tendency of the capillaries to rupture.
  • The entire family of seaweeds, from nori to wakame to dulse, contains products with a range of health-promoting properties. Asian cuisine would not exist without seaweed, and cosmetics would lose an exceptional ingredient. Due to their properties, seaweed has permanently entered the landscape of the cosmetics, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
