Ich ernähre mich gesund und nehme zu – welche Faktoren führen zu einer Gewichtszunahme?

This month, we've already written about the excuses that make dieting difficult. However, it's worth noting that even if we manage to stick to our resolutions, the results may not be immediately visible. Sometimes, to our great surprise, we don't lose any unnecessary weight at all, and the indicator on the scale regularly shows an increasing number. So why is it that we still gain weight despite eating healthy? There are several factors that could cause this.

No movement

A proper, healthy diet should go hand in hand with physical activity. If we don't include even light exercise in our weight loss plan, our metabolism will slow significantly. Remember that regular exercise accelerates the burning of unnecessary calories and also leads to the release of endorphins, which, among other things, are responsible for suppressing hunger.

No sleep

Yes, that's right, irregular sleep and any other sleep disturbance can also lead to unexpected weight gain. So, if we eat healthy and exercise and still gain weight, we should consider whether we're getting enough sleep. An overtired, unrecovered body needs an extra energy boost, and the result is feelings of hunger and, subsequently, snacking. In such situations, we are more likely to reach for sweets or sugary drinks than fresh fruits and vegetables.

Emphasize

Stress is—contrary to appearances—one of the most common causes of weight gain. Firstly, in stressful situations, we eat much more frequently to "drown out" the thoughts that plague us, or, conversely, we lose our appetite and focus all our energy on a specific problem. In both cases, however, we end up eating irregularly, thereby disrupting the proper functioning of our metabolism. Secondly, chronic stress is associated with elevated cortisol levels, which can lead to impaired fat burning.

Portions too large

There's a term called the "healthy eating trap," and unfortunately, many people fall into it. What is it? In short, it's the belief that with products deemed healthy, you don't have to worry about proper portion control. This, in turn, leads us to overeat. So, let's keep in mind that even good calories can have negative effects if we regularly overeat.

Of course, there are many other factors that cause weight gain – hormonal disorders and some diseases can also be mentioned here, but we will write about them in detail in later articles.
