We all like our homes to smell good. You'll find tons of air fresheners, sprays, scented candles, and other home fragrances on drugstore shelves. The problem is, these products aren't always healthy or environmentally friendly. Fortunately, there are a few simple, yet environmentally friendly, natural ways to make your home smell good.
Homemade air freshener spray
Its preparation is very simple. To prepare it, simply mix 200 ml of distilled water with 10 drops of your favorite natural essential oil and pour it into a spray bottle. This air freshener perfectly masks all kinds of unpleasant odors, and additionally used oils have additional properties, such as:
- Lavender oil – soothes and calms,
- Orange - refreshes,
- Tea tree – has antibacterial properties,
- Eucalyptus oil , mint oil – inhale through the respiratory tract.
Aroma diffuser made of sticks
Fragrance sticks in elegant bottles not only spread a pleasant scent, but also serve as a decorative element. To prepare this type of diffuser, you will need a glass bottle with a narrow neck, rattan or skewer sticks, essential oil, water, and a teaspoon of strong alcohol. Fill the bottle about halfway with water, add alcohol, and at least 20 drops of fragrance oil. Insert a few sticks into the bottle containing the prepared aromatic liquid. They will absorb the liquid and release a delicate fragrance.
Odor absorber for the refrigerator
To prepare it, you only need baking soda and a few drops of lemon juice. You can pour the baking soda into a small glass or saucer, sprinkle with a little lemon juice, and place it in the refrigerator. Baking soda absorbs all kinds of aromas perfectly. Another very simple option is to use coffee grounds, which can be poured into a linen or cotton bag. By placing the bag in the refrigerator, next to the trash can, or in your shoes, we get rid of unpleasant odors and moisture.
Aromatic soy candles
Soy candles are a vegan, natural product and, unlike paraffin candles, are completely safe, even for pregnant women and small children. Paraffin candles are a petroleum product and can release hazardous substances when burned that can be harmful to health. Natural soy wax:
- conducts the smell very well,
- it is not poisonous,
- Compared to paraffin candles, it has a longer burning time, even up to 50%.
potpourri
Dried flower petals and pieces of fruit work if you don't like very strong smells. You can pour them into a bowl or jar as a decoration, or you can put them in bags and hang them in your closet. If you want to make a fruit potpourri, place the sliced fruit in the oven for about 2 hours. Oranges, tangerines, lemons , limes, and apples are perfect for this. To make the floral version, simply dry the petals of your favorite flowers—the same or a mix. You can also make a fruit and flower blend and add aromatic herbs, spices, and others, such as:
- Cinnamon ,
- Carnations,
- essential oils,
- Cone.
As it turns out, there are numerous alternatives to store-bought artificial fragrances and air fresheners. We can easily ensure our homes always smell beautiful and pleasant using readily available and natural products.
