Chasteberry is often called the "female herb" (in other words, common or ordinary) due to its powerful estrogenic properties. But it's not only women who can benefit from it. Chasteberry also increases fertility in men.
This plant's natural habitat is warm and humid. It is found in North Africa, Central Asia, and Southern and Eastern Europe. Chasteberry is not found in Poland.
Learn about the properties of monk chaste
Chasteberry has a positive effect on hormones – the plant has very powerful properties that positively influence hormonal balance in women. Even in ancient times, it was believed that chasteberry could regulate the menstrual cycle. Currently, the herb is used as a natural health-promoting supplement that can help combat infertility in women.
Diterpenes, found in the fruits of the plant, are organic compounds that influence the proper release of hormones (mainly prolactin) by stimulating dopamine receptors. It's important to note that only small doses of chasteberry stimulate the release of this hormone; large doses have an inhibitory effect.
Healthy skin thanks to chasteberry
The positive effect of chasteberry on skin and hair is based on the fact that it also stimulates the release of estrogen and progesterone. It supports the fight against youthful acne and unpleasantly shiny skin.
Relieves the symptoms of menopause
The plant has an estrogenic effect, which means it helps relieve symptoms of menopause. Discomfort such as dizziness, shortness of breath, excessive sweating, depression, hot flashes, and irritability are easier to bear thanks to the beneficial properties of chasteberry. This plant will also be helpful for breast pain associated with mastalgia, including breast swelling.
PMS - chasteberry reduces symptoms
Menstrual pain (light or heavy bleeding, spotting, anovulatory cycles) is alleviated when chasteberry is included in the diet. The reason for the onset of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is that the body produces significantly more hormones. Initially, estrogen levels rise, followed by progesterone levels in the second half of the cycle.
When progesterone isn't produced in sufficient quantities, undesirable symptoms occur. To make matters worse, the pituitary gland begins to produce too much progestin, which is responsible for emotional instability, headaches, or chest pain.
Although chasteberry does not contain hormones or hormone-like substances, it has a very positive effect on a woman's hormonal balance and the menstrual cycle. Chasteberry has properties that inhibit the secretion of prolactin. This normalizes progesterone levels, thus alleviating the symptoms of premenstrual tension.
